When do most people put their homes on the market?

Hello Hampton Roads,

Have you ever wondered when most people put their homes on the market? 

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) did the research for the most popular listing days in 2014 when most people put their homes for sale.   It's no surprise that these days fell in the 2nd quarter of the year, in the spring buying season and predominantly on a Thursday or Friday.

As a home buyer or seller, this is good information to have which can be used for your benefit!

• As a buyer, knowing when most homes are on the market, means a greater selection of choice. More inventory combined with today's low interest rates and still affordable home prices make for great reasons to buy a home now.
• As a seller, though more listings can mean more competition, this can work to your advantage if your home is positioned as the best choice in terms of price and unique selling features. If your home is perceived as the best among the other similar homes, then the competition will practically sell your home for you.  Additionally you can selectively choose to put your home on the market when there is less competition.
