Community Hereos Can Get $8000 in Free Money to Help Buy a Home

Attention first time home buyers, if you are a Community Hero, meaning that you fall into one of the categories below, you could be eligible for $8,000.00 in free money to help buy a home! The funds are coming in the form of a grant from VHDA (the Virginia Housing Development Authority).
Community Heroes
-Public School Educators
-Law Enforcement Officers
-Fire Fighters
-Medical Tehnicians
-National Guard and other first responders
The grant can be used towards the down payment, closing costs, pre-paids, points, or any upfront mortgage insurance premiums. The grant is a true gift that does not require re-payment! Benefits of the grant are that it is very broad in nature; it can be used to purchase homes anywhere in the state of Virginia and it can be used to purchase a wide variety of properties including single family homes, town houses, condos, new construction, and foreclosure properties. Furthermore, the income limits are generous: eligible buyers must have a household income from 80% to 120% of the area's median income based on family size. In Hampton Roads income limits top out at $97,000.00 per household!

- Be a first time home buyer
- Buyers still have to qualify for a mortgage (either VHDA's FHA or FNMA loans)
- Contribute 1% into the transaction (fees paid for home inspection and appraisal can count towards this 1%)
- Complete a home buyer education course from VHDA
